Rushing Sophomore Year?

by: freshman

I was wondering if a lot of girls rush during their sophomore year? I am a senior in high school deciding if I want to rush in the fall but the process seems very intimidating. I'd probably feel more comfortable rushing my sophomore year but I don't know if a lot of people do that.

I rushed as a sophomore and regret not doing it as a freshman. Love my house, love my sisters, just wish I had done it sooner!

rush is mostly freshman. there are a very small percentage of sophomores in comparison and unless are good friends with girls in the sororities it will limit your options.

Not true at all, sophomores don't have to be good friends with girls in sororities, their choices are not limited. There is a separate quota for upperclassmen so they don't have to compete with freshmen for spots. They are considered in their own pool of pnm's and the pool is just smaller, that's all, and the chances are just the same for them.

I rushed as a sophomore and I was so happy that I decided to wait, because I too felt like I would have been very overwhelmed. Every chapter takes sophomores, but the number is very small in comparison to how many freshman they take, because freshman will pay dues and give the chapter money for 4 years, where a sophomore would only do it for 3, so it's definitely a chapter decision from nationals and all of them vary, but they do take at least a few sophomores! I will say that although it seems intimidating, you're just having conversations with girls who want to get to know you, and they're way more nervous than you are - they want you to pick them! So if you're even contemplating it, do some research, try to go back through panhellenic's instagram to look at posts and the chapters' social medias and websites to learn more about the process and the chapters. If you rush freshman year and don't like it, you can always withdraw and try COB and/or rush your sophomore year and know what to expect! Best of luck either way :)
