Of course other girls are considering it.

I think it would be cool to be in first member class.
And, dg is good nationally.

They are not the "first member class." DG was at Clemson already, They shut down in 2003.

dg was not on the campus going into this school year. making them the first member class in almost 20 years. making them founding members.

No I’d rather COB an established chapter with real events and a real exec team, not some 30 years olds. Plus you don’t even get a big

Panhel has been saying that it's going to be the same types of events as the other chapters, like formals and stuff

My sister was a charter member of a different sorority at the school she went to (not Clemson), and she really loved it. She said there are pros and cons of course, like any chapter, but it’s a super unique experience that I think would be a lot of fun. I honestly don’t have too many close friends not already in sororities but I really hope a lot of girls try for DG! We need another sorority and I hope they do well.

Didn't seem like many people joined from their Bid Day pics on Instagram.

Looks like they had a decent # for new chapter& will continue with cob.
I think it’s better that they’re selective.
I hope the do well.

What was fall quota for established houses?

But I'm not sure. It looks like they only got 70 people. Quota for NMs for the established sororities during primary recruitment was 108. Chapter total is about 330 or so. They have to do a lot of COB to be able to compete next fall. I agree they should be selective, but they also need people to recruit.

If I was joining a new group I’d rather it be less girls but higher standards instead of huge group of everyone who interviewed. Definitely is a risk but seems to be how dg opens chapters. Not to mention every new sorority is always bottom and normally has the worst grades, non involved members, some questionable reps, and the most drops. Hopefully they won’t start so far behind by being selective up front.

When other sororities came to Clemson, they were still selective but took on many more people. They didn't take everyone that applied but still took more than 100. And this was when NM classes and total were much smaller. They had enough people to COB new members and enough people by recruitment the next fall to be competitive. Considering a record number of women went through recruitment this year, it would seem a lot of people would want to join the new sorority, too. For DG to get so few women from the start, it seems suspiciously like there just weren't enough interested to be that "selective."

What other sorority came here & had 100 new members off the bat?
They are still doing cob and will have spring recruitment too.
And, as already stated @i hope you’re right, no one on gr will give any new house a chance. Already saying they will be bottom, grade risks, reps, uninvolvement etc. you don’t know any of this to be true for these new members.
Sounds like some of ya’ll are already nervous with such bs speculation.
Calm down, enjoy your house & let them be.

You're jumping to conclusions about all of us hating DG, but we are concerned that they don't seem to be making the best start or aren't making sense with their recruiting right now. If you look back, Pi Phi started off with over 150 people in 2016 when total was in the low 200s. They didn't have to COB many to get up to size of the other chapters. On the other hand, Theta (an established sorority at the time) only had about 120 people when they were forced to close. Total was about 230-250 then. The point is while expected to be smaller, DG is MUCH smaller than everyone else currently. Of course DG has the advantage of not have a negative rep and the momentum of being a new group FOR NOW. I'm just expressing concern that they are going to have a tough job going forward in being competitive. It's not fun having to COB large numbers of people (and not just the normal handful) all the time. Being realistic about this is not being hateful or negative, just honest.

No one but YOU is saying bad things about the DG women. I just said there weren't many of them, and that was concerning considering how popular sororities seem on campus now, but I never said anything about the quality of them. They seem decent from pictures. Of course, that says nothing about their character, but I would hope their consultants checked them out thoroughly before offering bids.

I’m the person who said the thing about most new houses reps but I didn’t write the “Also” comment. We definitely had a miscommunication about my statement. I DID NOT say that the people who joined DG were non involved, likely to drop, bad grades and reps, etc. I said that’s usually the reps that the newest houses get, and I meant they get it whether it’s true or not just because they’re new, but I see that I didn’t make that clear in the original comment. And sometimes when new groups take everyone they do inevitably end up with girls that fit those descriptions. I was truly complimenting and hopeful that with DG being selective and smaller that they wouldn’t start with this negative rep, that’s undeserved, right off the bat.
