Ranks come from people who want to rank their own chapter as highest. As you can see from all the comments, every sorority thinks they are the best. That’s why it’s all pointless. No one except you can decide what sorority is top for you.

Well I would argue that there is SOME legitimacy to rankings. Whether it be involvement, social status, sisterhood, etc. there are definitely some unorganized/uninvolved chapters. “Top” chapters genuinely are more established on campus

A lot of the “dont listen to the ranks” posts come from people who are unhappy with where their chapter is being put in them.

A lot of the ranking posts are by trolls like me who just make up stuff to stir up trouble for my own amusement. LMAO. I love when people get angry or when people like you feel there is something "legitimacy" to my randomness. LOL!

Ranks on here are all usually pretty much the same, for a reason, usually it’s not that “random”

Honestly yea, the ranks wouldn’t be so similar in every post if they weren’t somewhat relevant lol

I agree that trid and chio aren’t above zeta, adpi or kappa, do this post is slightly inaccurate but I’d say those two are lower top. I also agree with the person above, saying that there is some accuracy to ranks. They aren’t all the exact same, but usually follow the same pattern, and they do so for a reason. Some sororities are just more established than others

Generally the same sororities are lumped together for top, mid and bottom. While the orders change, its usually similar

My problem with the whole thing is calling people "top" and "bottom" as if one is better than the other when it's just different. Certain groups tend to attract similar personalities, so they tend to cluster together in "rankings." But a lot of people would not be happy in certain groups even if they are supposedly ranked higher. And there are plenty of negative stereotypes about "top" groups, too, not just "bottom" ones.

It would be more informative to have groupings based on certain similar characteristics rather than ranks, tbh. You end up happier picking a group that you fit in with rather than picking a high ranked one to impress others but you have nothing in common with.

Totally agree. Everyone fits in in different places. I agree with the person above saying that some sororities are just more established/involved than others. Doesn’t always mean they are better for a girl rushing, she might not want to be that involved or go out all the time. It all depends on the person

But what does "established" or "involved" mean? Because Theta was one of the oldest chapters and thus among the most "established", and they just closed. And involved meaning what? Most parties? Most awards won? Most involved with their philanthropy? Most members active in other organizations? Most members who win beauty pageants or other competitions? Best grades and most scholarships/honor societies? Most members who are friends with people in other organizations? The ranking will differ by what standard you use, and no one is strong in all areas. It gets back to what the person above was asking what the ratings are based on.

I think Rank Answer still has the best answer in the thread. Rankings are subjective. It depends on what the evaluator deems important or not. And one should not let someone else tell you what should or should not bet important to you. You get more quality information by just saying what each group is best known for and letting people decide what is more valuable to them.

Overall, tiers are based on what chapters accept the most well rounded members

Well I’m rushing this year and I looked on here and there’s posts saying don’t listen to the rankings, but all the rankings pretty much say the same thing, like for a very far ways back, so it’s making me think there has to be something legit about them. For example, kkg is never ranked bottom and gphi is never ranked top. What does it mean?
