Do the sororities here prefer southern girls? I'm from California and have heard that some southern school sororities prefer southern girls.

Some do (adpi tridelt and kkg mostly) but other than those 3 not really. it’s more about if you know people here already, but honestly there are girls from everywhere in every sorority so you’ll find your people

I can tell you this -- the answer is YES. I was in a sorority and dropped it because the southern thing was just too much.

Honestly it didn't seem that southern when I toured, but once I got here it was another story. I got a bid from a "southern" sorority by reputation.

This happened to me too. I really wanted to be in a sorority, it didn't matter which one, I just wanted to be in a sorority because everyone made it sound so fun. In retrospect, I should have gone thru with it. It is not for everyone. There are certain things here that are very Southern, you can't escape that. Like it is a really different culture (I'm from the northeast) and people are not super open to interacting with people that are different than them. Take a look at some of the instagrams and you will see that they are not very diverse.

the right sorority for u wont care where ur from. the sororities with more out of staters are the more down to earth sororities. ill let u figure out which one those are. u should be able to tell

Some sororities clearly have the reputation for being more southern and other for having more out of state girls, but overall this is a southern school so the majority of the girls are going to be from South Carolina no matter what sorority you end up in. As long as you say "y'all" you will fit in anywhere.

You are in the South, of course things will be Southern. Most southerners prefer other southerners over Yankees.
