historical rankings
by: Phi'15I know we don't have the 100-150 year old Greek systems like UGa, SC or even Wofford but does anyone know the historical rankings? long standing traditions? or even any history on the locals?

from my girlfriend's dad who graduated in 1971
there were the original 8 locals who were housed in the upper quad. all started in the early 60s and then in the 70s the lower quad, Norris Hall, was filled in with much smaller frats, 10-20 members each.
The quad - "Big Four"
numeral society (SAE) - was the first frat by 5 years - most exclusive
phi kapp (KA) - old money
deacons (ATO) - "rowdy decs," the party frat
chis (sigma nu) - athletes
The quad - "others"
zetas (pike) - try hards, student government guys
delta phi (phi delt) - guys who didn't get in Chis
snappers (KS) - guys who didn't get in Deacons
?? - Beta
Norris Frats - smaller, 10-20 members
AG (Sig Ep)
Chi Lam (Theta Chi)
Beta Sig (Chi Psi)
?? - Fiji

no one can explain why Chi Psi is so bad here. They're at least decent at most ACC schools and really good at USC, UNC and UGa.

Chi Psi has only 32 chapters nationally and 15 dormant chapters. Does not sound like a strong network.

Theta Chi got the death penalty about 10 years ago. They've tried to come back 2-3 times since the late 80s when they got kicked off, but have continually gotten kicked off since. Clemson finally suspended them indefinitely after this last time and it doesn't look like they'll be back.

what did Theta Chi do to get the death penalty? must have been bad because Sig Ep thinks they are coming back and they killed a pledge.

They had a kid get alcohol poisoning and die at a party within like 6 months of refounding.

I don't think Sig Ep was here that early. AGR local history says that AGR was originally Alpha Gamma. Maybe Sig Ep came later?
Also, If Chi Psi has been here for that long. Why are they so bad?
