Usually it's only a problem if you're northern

I disagree with the above post, it does not matter where you are from! If a sorority does not want you because of where you are from, clearly, that sorority does not even deserve your presence! As long as you are friendly and be yourself, you should be able to find your niche. :)

P.s. - IM NORTHERN AND I LOVE MY SORORITY AT CLEMSON

I know you've probably heard this a million times, but it's really true: whatever sorority you end up in, you'll love it! Honestly, it all works out, regardless of whether or not you get your top choice. That being said, where you're from really won't effect what sorority you get into--there are girls from all over the nation in every sorority! I have friends from everywhere, from California and Colorado to Columbia and Charleston, in mine. Just do you and be friendly and you'll do fine in rush!!

Whoever says where you're from doesn't affect which sorority you get into is completely wrong. I'm from up north and there was no way I would have gotten into some of the sororities that don't accept girls from above the mason dixon line.

What sororities are the ones you referred to that don't accept girls from above the Mason Dixon line? I'm rushing next year and I don't want to get my hopes up for them. Thanks

I saw a car with a Massachusetts license plate and an ADPi sticker the other day, so it's definitely possible, albeit unlikely.

There are girls from Illinois, Connecticut, and California in ADPi, just throwing that out there.

Having girls from 3 "northern" states doesn't mean you normally accept northern girls, or are known for it. Doesn't add too much diversity, at least not compared to the not southern sororities.

it's ridiculously hard to get in a decent sorority if you're not southern. Which is either a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it because all of the "lower" (not southern) sororities actually have cool northern girls in them.
