rush for transfer student

by:

I'm currently a freshman at Bama right now but I'm thinking of transferring to Clemson in the fall. I was in a sorority at Bama but dropped right before initiation so I could rush again at a different school. I know Bama's rush is the most competitive in the nation, but how similar is it to Clemson's? What are my chances as a sophomore transfer student? What do sororities value the most when selecting pnms? I know at Bama grades, connections, and involvement are the things most looked at. Not sure if it matters, but I'm also from Chicago. Not sure how Clemson feels about out of state girls.

I don't think it is as competitive as Alabama. A lot of sophomores do OK in recruitment. Each sorority has their own criteria, but grades and involvement tend to matter. As far as being from out of state, I think that may depend on the chapter, but many decent chapters do take several out of state women.

Do recommendation letters hold any weight? Also, what's the minimum GPA that chapters want and what's the ideal GPA they want? Sorry for all the questions! I'm just trying to decide if rushing there is worth it.

I think the minimum GPA varies from chapter to chapter. The people between 2.5 and 2.75 have to worry. 3.0 or higher is best. Recommendations never hurt. They may not be as essential as at Alabama, but they may help get your name out there, especially with more competitive chapters. I think you should give recruitment a try. You can always opt not to accept if bid if it doesn't feel right to you.
