sorority recommendations
by: Gg23I'm trying to get recommendations for fall recruitment, but I don't know many alumni ladies that were in sororities. How essential are recommendations if you want to get a bid?

They don't have too much of an impact. If a sorority already likes you they're a nice bonus but if they can't see you in their sorority a letter of rec won't be able to save you. They basically just don't carry enough weight to change a decision either way. I wouldn't stress about getting them!

My chapter got over 1,000 legacy introductions and recommendations this past recruitment, so most girls are going to have them. Ask high school teachers and other college-educated women you know-I guarantee you know more sorority women than you realize.
Some national organizations also require one to pledge a girl, FWIW.
