If Pi Phi or another new sorority is coming how does their recruitment work? Would I (a junior in the fall) be able to join without going through the whole formal recruitment process?

I think the way I heard it was the new sorority will do interviews to get their charter members which would make your junior status a positive I would think.

Typically, when the group is chosen they will table and promote on campus during the months preceding formal recruitment. Because it's a bit late in the year, not sure how much of this will happen. Then formal recruitment rolls around and they will participate in Day 1, so girls can meet them, where they will have girls and representatives from other local chapters and nationals and alumnae. Then they will drop out of formal recruitment and hold their own recruitment process following the end of formal. It's usually a couple of open events and then interviews, pref night and bid day.

You do not have to participate in formal recruitment to join the colony. The colony will be looking for women of all ages, but they are by no means giving a bid to everyone.

If you do go through formal recruitment and sign a pref card (MRABA) and you receive a bid which you choose not to accept, you are ineligible to go through any form of recruitment for 1 calendar year, ergo you would not be able to go for the colony.
