what is the deal with rush consultants?
by: ?I'm going to Chapman next year. I keep hearing this that and the other about getting into Alpha Phi or one of the top, you need a Rush Consultant. Then others say, not true. Can someone clue me in?

do not for the love of god get a rush consultant!! save that for the southern schools where there are 20+ sororities and two weeks of rush...those situations you may need someone because its like applying to college again and its pretty insane. Chapman is a smalls school and having a rush consultant could actually possibly turn people off from giving you bids because thats a little intense and aggressive. We all look for girls who naturally fit in not girls who need to be shaped into someone we can like during the three days of rush just for us to then realize she is a completely different person after she gets a bid. Be yourself and you'll belong where you belong whether thats in a sorority at chapman or not!

This is one of the most annoying post I've ever seen. First of all I hope you don't get APHI solely because you are seeking out just one house when you haven't gone through rush yet. Second of all, what gives you the right to determine a house is top. I'm an APHI I really hope we don't get shallow girls like you next time around.

We have seen girls with rush consultants come and go. If we want them anyway, we'll invite them back. If we're borderline on them, the aggressiveness of hiring a rush consultant will be the deciding factor to release her. Really, we can't stand the thought that we'd waste a spot in our new member class on a girl that has been coached to try to fool us into thinking she'd fit in. It's just embarrassing for the girl and disgusting for the sorority.
