do they know if you're rich?

by: wtf

I have a full ride scholarship here and recently went through recruitment. I know a lot of my richer friends who got into the "top houses" when they don't really have impressive resumes or accomplishments. My question is do sororities have access to financial aid files and do you get a penalty for having aid? There were a lot of houses I really felt like I had done well in only to get cut the second and third days. Kinda wondering what they're really judging us on and how corrupt the process is...?

No. Sororities do not receive your financial aid information. I worked in one of the sorority voting/advisors rooms this year and I know that all the sororities do not receive that info. All we receive is a snapshot of your application that you submitted when applying to rush. To be honest, your resume and accomplishments are good but they are not the most important thing during rush. Rush is as simple as " girls get cut based off of how the conversations went with the members of the sorority, if the sorority member liked you, if the sorority member thought other girls in the sorority would like you and if most of all you would fit in well." If you were cut it was because they didn't think u were a good fit for the group or u only made a neutral impression on the girl you spoke with.

ok that's good to know. i still think the entire thing is hypocritical when people day "you can find a way to fit in at ANY house" and then people say "but you wouldn't fit in there..." honestly think it is messed up that someone tells you you can't "fit in" somewhere based. on. what.
