phi sig disbanded
by: bummerHas everyone heard that phi sig is officially disbanded? They really must not have gotten any girls this recruitment. I guess this goes to show that having a good sisterhood isn't enough.

they actually did get a lot of girls at recruitment. it just sucks that so many girls going through aren't looking for a true sisterhood like they claim to be and everyone gets so influenced by other peoples thoughts and stereotypes. otherwise you know phi sig would get so many more girls! they were so genuine and I'm legitimately upset for them.

Phi Sigs charter was revoked due to the fact that while they had a (semi) good recruitment season, it wasn't enough. Headquarters decided that the chapter was, due to there noncompetitive size, no longer able to provide the enriching experience they aim to provide their members. This size problem has been area for the chapter for the last 7-10 years and unfortunately for the girls in the chapter now, they have to bear the burden of the mistakes of years before them. What most don't realize is that due to Phi Sigs Size, the girls in the group were forced to constantly recruit and each girl has a lot more pressure on her to help do all the work for the chapter as getting all the things done that needed to be done with only 76 people is much harder than it is with 200+. While the Phi Sigs i know would never change their chapter experience and love their chapter and sisterhood to death, their nationals doesn't think that the experience of constant recruiting and never-ending hard work is what is best for the girls of the chapter. The hope is that in 5 years, phi sig will be able to recolonize and restart on a level playing field without the mistakes of the past weighing them down. That being said, the phi sigs who are currently at chapman, especially those who joined last school year will now not have the opportunity to participate in greek life in any fashion and this is really unfortunate and sad.

It really sucks. But it's also Panhellenic making quota bigger and bigger every year it becomes harder for all chapters to maintain. The quota is now almost 190 which is crazy, I don't wanna be in a chapter with 200 girls I'd rather have more sororities on campus with only 100 cause that shows better sisterhood instead of getting too cliquey. Quota keeps rising and it's getting too crazy.

QUOTA is the number of new members a sorority can take during formal recruitment. This number is based on the total number of PNMs left at preference divided by the number of sororities. So quota is completely based on PNMs, and changes with every recruitment.
TOTAL is the number of members a sorority can have. This number is based on the average chapter size and is calculated after formal recruitment is over. Total is based on current chapter sizes and moves up or down depending on that. It isn't some arbitrary number.
Phi Sigma Sigma closed because they failed to attract and retain enough members. It's very hard to do that once a chapter becomes so much smaller than all the others, but it has nothing to do with quota and total.

I didn't realize they were THAT small. Wow, those girls had to have worked their asses off to even have any presence. It's really sad what happened. They didn't deserve that.
