do sororities at Chapman care about recommendations? I'm from Texas and they're common here but I feel like the west coast is more laid back about the whole rush process. Would a recommendation help at all or can I skip that?

You don't need them but they really help! A lot of sororities will automatically call you back the second day if you have a rec so I would do it! They definitely give you a leg up on everyone else who didn't do it.
