what did dg do?
by: curiousI'm new to chapman and rushing but am a little confused about it DG is in trouble and why and what that means for new pledges? Is it even worth rushing them? What did they do?

It would just not be right to put out a sororities dirty laundry when it didn't u, but do know this, what DG did went against a lot of rules enforced by greek life but worse also things against their own sorority values. They stepped out of boundaries and even got SAE kicked off campus. Consider that, it speaks a lot about the group of girls you will be joining. Just because you 'chose' DG doesn't mean they will select you back FYI.

That's still a whole year of wasting my money. Doesn't sound like the sorority experience I want as a freshman or a senior. NO THANX DG.

That is a terrible attitude to have and my understanding is your money isn't "wasted". There are other events like Sisterhoods and they can still compete in philanthropy events and panhellenic events (skit) and the dues will go towards that instead.
DG is in trouble because of a small group of girls and unfortunately, but understandably, the whole chapter is taking the fall. However, when you join a chapter it is for life - so I am so sorry 9 months of your life will not have any dances, but going into recruitment us Greeks know we don't join a sisterhood for the dances... we join for the sisters we gain.
So to those PNMs that are DG legacies or feel an inclination towards the chapter at Chapman, don't let this predicament sway you too much. If you connect with the girls during rush, go for it.
P.S. I am in a different chapter on campus and while my run ins with DGs have not always been positive, I certainly know some girls in the chapter who do not deserve to be on probation but have held their heads high and deserve the chance of finding new sisters as much as any other girl in any other chapter here.

Because we join sororities to not have a social life and live like nuns with our sisters as our only fun. DG is lucky ... damned lucky ... they didn't get completely kicked off campus. Everyone, from their nationals to our administration, will be watching them closely all year. One more stupid thing and it's completely over. Any PNM would be foolish to pledge DG this year. Essentially they do not exist.
