As someone with a daughter starting school at Chapman tomorrow, a great university that you are all privileged to attend, I find this sad. I understand that there is a competitive element to all of the greek stuff, but really, tone it down and get a grip on reality.
My daughter has gotten to know girls from Kapps, Aphi and DG who are all amazing- and close friends with one another! And while I've learned that Aphi was on probation last year, and DG this year, as a parent I can say that neither did anything that really bothers me personally. Any accusation of "hazing" is really thin. (particularly in DG's case this year, the infraction did not even involve freshman. That said I applaud Chapman and the national chapters for taking a stand) These girls all work as hard on their sorority requirements and philanthropy as they do on their school work.
If you are an incoming freshman planning to go through recruitment, please just use your best judgment and follow your heart. The girls I've met are awesome and I'd be happy to have my daughter join any of the hard working chapters of Chapman University. (as a mom I can say that a year off of date stuff for DG sounds great, time for lots of fun sisterhood events:)
I really wish I hadn't found this site as I tried to research Chapman greek life, it's certainly not a very good reflection on Chapman students. A shame since I know better, such a wonderful school and opportunity for all of you.

If you were a parent, you would be concerned at any possibility of your daughter being hazed… so either you're a bad parent or a sorority girl trying to defuse your sorority's bad rep. In DG's case, they were hazing fraternity boys… is that really something you would want your child to be apart of. Im sorry but to hear an adult condone any sort of hazing or other harm to a college student whether that be physical or emotional is enraging. Learn the facts.

Transferred to Chapman Kappa with great trepidation from UCSB mid year and was warmly welcomed by an amazing group of women that are beautiful, brainy and genuine. Girls that attack other sororities are mean spirited and misdirected with negative energy . Bad Karma ladies!
Shame on you for tarnishing Greek life at Chapman . Put your energy into something to make the world a better place. Look in the mirror today and ask yourself if you are a genuine person representative of the character traits your sorority espouses?

Yes, people on here suck. It's the internet, what do you expect? But you really shouldn't be fighting your daughters battles for her. She's a big college girl now.

Really? My mother barely understands what a "big" and "little" are. I highly doubt that any mom would post on this site. That being said, why do we need to be so rude.
