rushing as a junior

by: newgirl123

Hiiii,

so i have have friends involved in Greek life at other schools and I just transferred back to CMU this past spring semester. I want to be more involved with things and have always wanted to join a sorority but I knew i was going to be going home this past fal so i didn’t join freshman year. Would it be weird to rush as a junior? I am kind of younger for the class as i will only be 20 in the fall. will waiting this long to rush hinder my bid chances? should i even try to rush?

I’m not even going to lie to you - some houses DO NOT accept upper class men. Sorority recruitment is basically a numbers game. You get ranked from 1- whatever number when it comes to bids. One of the parts of the point system includes how much you can give back to your chapter basically. Most sororities want someone who is going to be there for a while (freshmen) and so freshmen generally have a higher rank. That’s not to say that other houses won’t pick you up, but just be aware that you will be automatically dropped from some sororities just because you are older.
