by: OwlDoes anyone know why we don’t have a Greek row here in Long Beach for our Greek life ? It would be nice if we had one like uc Berkeley.

The CSU system owns the land where a possible row could be placed. However they would want the housing to be open to everyone not just the members of the Greek community. There are schools that offer housing for Greeks in university owned buildings ie: UC Irvine, but most Greek rows have homes that are owned by each group's housing corporations.

There was never a true "row" here in Long Beach, but in the 1950's and 1960's there were fraternity and sorority houses along Ocean and First. (Closer to the beach.) Over time, the different groups had to sell their beach area houses and move north into their current houses. Many of these structures were later torn down for redevelopment. Only Delta Zeta was able to keep their house which is closer to Ocean/First.
