recruitment

Rushing here sucks. I did it last year and was so underwhelmed I dropped. The houses are small the girls are nothing to swoon over. So here my experience through rush.
Alpha Omicron Pi talked about food pretty much the whole time and if they werent they were obsessed with dogs.
Alpha phi left me alone in the middle of recruitment so they need to get off their high horse.
I don’t remember Delta Zeta because they weren’t anything special.
Tri Delta seemed so fake and the conversations were forced so there’s that
Delta gamma the ladies seemed nice just super particular about who they let into their coveted group
Gamma Phi Beta so money oriented I’m pretty sure they priced my whole outfit. If you throw Louis Vuitton Prada and Gucci at them they will jump all over the chance to get you.
Sigma kappa same story as delta zeta don’t remember but don’t think they are the worst just don’t think anything special or nothing stood out
Zeta tau alpha... just no they were about as dry and bland as saltine crackers. I kept checking time wishing it was done

I'm sorry that your experience with sorority recruitment 2017 didn't work out for you. However I have to ask if you were under the impression that the CSULB Greek Life was comparable to what could be found at larger schools: UCLA, USC, Washington State, Alabama, Nebraska etc...
Yes the actual chapter houses are small when compared to those schools and the chapter sizes are also smaller than those at a school with a large Greek presence. Keep in mind that this is not ASU, Northwestern or UT Austin. That being said, some of the chapters here have grown significantly in recent years and now conduct their weekly meetings on campus rather than at their chapter houses.
If you are truly interested in joining a sorority on a campus with a high profile Greek life, you might consider transferring to another campus.
Good luck.

Recruitment is a rather "fake" situation. Large campus or a small one, it doesn't matter as the timeline only allows the PNMs and the sisters a very short time together. No matter the size of the chapter, you will not be able to get an absolute, defined and complete picture of each group within a week or a few days with some rather short conversations. Each group is going to try and share their sisterhood with you, but not every group will appeal to you.
All the sororities can do is try to give you the best possible impression of themselves via their recruitment videos, social media, conversations with PNMs and presentations about their chapters In turn the PNMs are trying to do the same thing via their applications, photos, social media and their interaction with the sisters. It does require a level of trust and faith on both sides. They can try to give you an impression of their sisterhood, but again it can be difficult to convey after hours of conversations and smiling non-stop. It's overwhelming for PNMs as well!
Again, I'm very sorry that your recruitment at CSULB didn't work out for you. To be honest, I'm not sure that going through recruitment at a larger campus with a more high profile Greek Life, is going to deliver the "genuine sisterhood" that you were expecting to find over a period of a few days. After all that will mean a schedule with less time and more groups to meet.
In the end, I wish you well and hope that you find an on campus group that you want to join. Good luck

I wasn't expecting a big house or anything like the south but I wasn't expecting each house to be fake and rude. They each had their own flaw that I saw and none of the houses fit. I wasn't expecting a huge Grand thing but I was expecting there to be genuine sisterhood's
