gpa and sorority recruitment

by: outsider

One of my friends was freaking out because her GPA was low and its her first semester. She's mostly upset because she wanted to rush next semester but she doesn't think she can. Do you guys know if the houses had certain GPA requirements and if not how much they would penalize her for her GPA?

Sorry btw if I miss special words or things I should be using or something, I'm just trying to help her out, I don't like seeing her so upset. Thanks y'all!

I know some houses have GPA requirements but also others do not. Tell your friend to relax she probably will be able to rush. Do you mind telling me her GPA. She should've rushed in the fall

She called me this morning crying saying it was under a 2.5 but above a 2.0 so I'm thinking its in the middle of that.
I know she had a certain reason for not rushing this fall, but she never told me exactly why. Should I ask her for the reasoning?

No you don't need to call her. I believe houses like ZTA, Tri Delta and AO Pi wouldn't mind accepting your friend. Since membership quota was low this fall, I believe many sororities would need members in the Spring.

Panhellenic requirement is 2.5 but some houses will accept lower. I know my house accepted under 2.5 when I rushed, but now we aren't because we're trying to bring up the chapter GPA. Most likely DZ (the traditionally academic house) and other top houses will care more because chapter GPA affects getting awards and stuff like that, but there will probably be some houses that don't mind! Your friend will just have to do study hours or something that she's trying to bring up her GPA. But definitely encourage her to still go through recruitment and try and find her home :)

She could bring her grades up and go through rush in the fall.
