Looks like they were number six after DZ, Tri-Delta, Alpha Phi, ZTA and Sigma Kappa.

Is it in that order? So AOPI and Gamma Phi came in the 60s?

When did SK go off? When did ZTA go off? Are there any other sororities that were here before?

According to Greek Chat's website SK left in 1972 and ZTA in 1974. Typically chapters that had to leave a school will be given higher consideration over other groups for the chance to return to a university.

@Lucifer AFAIK there were no other Panhellenic groups at the university except for those listed. I have heard that some of the earliest groups: DZ, Tri-Delta, Alpha Phi etc..had been local sororities that were approached by Panhellenic in the mid-1950's to establish chapters. Most of these groups have other chapters at older SoCal schools ie: UCLA, USC, San Diego State etc...

Yes Delta Zeta, Alpha Phi, and Tri Delta were all "local" sororities
before affiliating with their National. Sigma Pi, SAE, Phi Tau,
and Kappa Sigma were also "local" fraternities that affiliated
with their Nationals.

Tau Upsilon Rho was the first "local" fraternity which began in
November of 1949 and affiliated with Sigma Pi in 1952 and then
was chartered in 1955. SAE was Sigma Epsilon Chi and was founded
as a local to become an SAE chapter. Teke was the first National
Fraternity chartered at Long Beach but Sigma Pi is the oldest fraternity
having its beginning in 1949 as a local.
