informal recruitment vs. spring recruitment

by:

I wasn't able to participate in Fall Recruitment, as I had family in town at the time. I've gone to a couple of informal recruitment events, but the only sororities handing out bids at this time are AOPi, ZTA, and TriDelt. Is it best to wait for Spring Recruitment to pursue greek life? Or should I seize the opportunities available? I'm new to this entire process.

If you want to rush other houses then wait next semester. But, if you sole have your sites on AO Pi, ZTA or Tri Delta, then attend their events for this semester. If you want my advice, I would wait next semester to see if other sororities recruit. However not all sororities participate in Spring Rush

Thanks for your reply. My instinct is to wait until Spring Semester. I don't want to be impulsive and commit to a sorority without exploring my other options.

If you are 18 and it is your first year of college, then I would wait until next year (August) and go through rush. If you are over the age of 20, I would take a bid from one of those three sororities.

Why is my age relevant?

I'm guessing that they are saying that if you are young and a freshman, better to take your time, relax, and go through formal recruitment when you can meet all the sororities. But if you are older and a transfer student, you should kinda get the show on the road.

Usually DG and Sigma Kappa do COB. Are they not doing it this year?

Not that I'm aware of. But I could have missed them at the Week of Welcome.

not true, most of the sororities made quota but then a bunch of girls dropped. I know that is true for a couple

The COBs are still really relaxed, and you don't have to commit to anything. But it's a good way to get to see a better look at their sisterhood and how the girls interact with one another. You never know what house you could end up falling in love with

My advice is to follow your instincts and wait until spring or fall. Keep your grades up this semester and try to meet some of the girls if you have any in your classes/dorm.

AOPI, ZTA and Tridelt are really good sororities. If you are offered a bid from one of them, you would be pretty lucky.

Do you know if the informal recruitment is still going? I gave them my information, but haven't gotten an email still.

Yes, it's still going. I've gotten emails from ZTA and AOPi. I attended a ZTA event and the girls were really nice.

I cant find anywhere to get more information. I want to go to these events. I really liked ZTA and DDD.
Is there someplace I can contact them?

I believe their contact information is listed on the CSULB website. You can also try to reach out through social media.

Try contacting ZTA through Instagram. They posted something about an event the other day. You could maybe leave a comment about being interested in joining.
