I have mixed emotions about rushing first semester freshman year.
If you want to get into real leadership roles and be president of your fraternity some day, then the sooner you rush the better.
If you just want to be a chill member, it might be better to wait until Spring or Sophomore year. That way you can get to know the school and get to know people.
Fraternities do cost money. If your parents will pay for it, then earlier might be better. If you are having to pay for it, maybe wait a semester or two.

That isn't true. FIJI , Phi Kappa Psi and PIKE are good fraternities.
