Question about sorority rush
by: malibu
Hey everyone! I'm considering colleges for next year and I definitely want to rush. I have a few questions about rush at Cal Poly Slo, which is one of my top schools:
- Is Cal Poly Slo rush more on the laid back or difficult side?
- Are legacies a big deal at Slo?
- Is it traditional for girls to live in the sorority house at Slo?
- How many girls are in a typical house?
Thank you!

Rush is way more chill here than what people tell me about other universities. But there are three or four top houses everybody wants… Some middling’s some people want and then a few at the bottom people are stuck with - and not necessarily the rankings you see on GR- which are a lot of self promotion by a few people. If you don’t drop anyone you’ll get a house. May not be the house you want but you’ll get a house. We’ve got around 220 in our house. Only a few girls live in the official house. But honestly nobody wants to live there because there are too many rules. After the dorms people just find places to live with other sorority sisters and sometimes girls and other houses. I’d honestly say sometimes it’s worth it being in sorority if you go to the events and socials and get to know people. But if you’re not willing to attend events and you’ve got your own little crowd of people no reason to join.
