are delta chi, sigma nu and phi psi decent backups ?
by: SLO SURFHiya, we are 3 local guys that have been going to school in SLO since elementary school. We are all tall, blond, athletic and were in student government . We all surf and one of us is a sponsored pro rider and model. We know hundreds of the hottest girls in SLO. We want to try to join the same fraternity together. The girls we grew up with said we would fit best with Lambda Chi and they are the top fraternity at CP. if for some reason they wont take all 3 of us are Delta Chi, Sigma Nu or Phi Psi acceptable?.. Our friends say we won’t have any problem getting in at Lambda Chi but I also hear from other friends they only offer membership to less than 20% of the guys that rush them. If those other houses really suck maybe we won’t join a fraternity that we will be embarrassed of.

I just completed my freshman year and I am in a top sorority. We are #1 in most rankings. If you can’t get a bid at Lambda Chi... your friends are right, they have the hottest guys and have been universally considered top fraternity forever.
I would look into DU most consider them right behind Lambda Chi and certainly considered better than Delta Chi, Sigma Nu or Phi Psi Plus they have a great new fraternity house.
Honestly if you can’t get a bid from Lambda Chi or Delta Chi I would just not rush... those other fraternities are filled with unattractive socially awkward people that just don’t have what it takes to be in a good house.

DU and SN are the best backups. But by all means if you are hot, and confidant try Lambda Chi the consensus #1 fraternity at CP

Check out Phi Kappa Psi if you don’t get a bid from Lambda Chi. I rushed Lambda Chi last year and couldn’t get a bid but I heard it’s almost impossible to get a bid from them unless you’re well connected. I also rushed Delta Upsilon, Delta Chi, Sigma Nu, AEPi, Kappa Sig but didn’t get a bid from any of them either. I found my home at Phi Psi and I am very happy here.

Update! We all rushed Lambda, SN, DX, Phi psi and DU and got bids from all! When you compare them all the Choice will be obvious!.. There is a reason Lambda Chi has been #1 for decades and considered the most prestigious fraternity at CP with no one remotely on their level.

DU has really moved to the ladder and is knocking on Lambdas door. DU would be the best alternative.

You forgot DU I would go DU over Phi Psi which is considered lower middle tier and DU is better than middle tier SN.

DU or DX are probably the best backups if you don’t get a Lambda bid but there is still a HUGE gap between Lambda and those two. Don’t believe the self ranks from SN and Phi Psi NO ONE considers either of them higher than middle tier.

ALL those 3 plus DU are considered below Lambda but NONE of them have the status of Lambda

Sounds like you won’t have a problem getting a bid from Lambda Chi but if for some reason they reject you and leave you out in the cold check us out. We are humble because we are used to rejection. Almost all of our members were rejected from not only Lambda Chi but also Delta Upsilon, Delta Chi and Sigma Nu.

Don’t fall for the Phi Psi BS. No one considers them top tier LOWER middle tier on their best day is their spot.

DU is a good backup and on the rose. DX,SN and Phi Psi are in my opinion all slipping. But Lambda Chi is in a class by themselves.
