How competitive is sorority rush here?
by: curiousDoes everyone get a bid? do a ton of girls drop out or get dropped? If you don't join greek life, is campus life still okay?

About 94% get bids, depending on year. It is competitive to get into 3-5 orgs, depending on who you ask. BUT, if you have a GENUINELY OPEN MIND and want a SORORITY EXPERIENCE (not just to be cool or to get people to think more highly of you) and can be open to all 7 chapters, about 94%. GPA your freshman fall/cumulative if you’re an upperclassman is very important, it can move you up or down chapters’ invite lists, increasing your odds.

so the only girl i know who didn’t get a bid was because she only listed one house on pref night which reduces your chances. honestly be open and see which house you have the best connection and conversations with. ask yourself where you feel comfortable. and to answer your other question, i would definitely say Butler is very greek oriented. if u aren’t in greek life or a sport it will be more difficult to get yourself out there.

if you have two sororities on pref night and you choose to write down that you would accept a bid from both your chance is in the mid nineties of getting A BID, ANY BID. and you have a good chance of getting your first choice - a majority of people who get to pref [with either 1 or 2] get their first choice [well obvi 1st choice of 1 is just one haha]. not everyone of course - getting your second choice is very common! and totally fine and normal, happens in every chapter, every year, totally fine.
adding on to the first commenter if you have 2 on pref and you only list 1 then your chances go way down. depending on which sorority you have as your first choice your chances can be wayyyy lower. like if you have the most selective sorority on your list as your number one and you don't list a second one then your chances could literally go down to like 50 percent because say they have 90 people at pref you only have about a 50 percent chance of getting on their list above the quota line so then it depends on how many people above the quota line choose them too. like if you're lower on their list to the point where they fill up before they get to you YOU WILL NOT GET A BID. so like literally could be like 50 percent. which DOES HAPPEN!!!!! it can happen to anyone and it hurts! so be thoughtful if you choose to only list one - if you're really going to be unhappy in that sorority then consider it, but if you want a sorority experience and are open to trying that chapter, then try that chapter.
(Don't be the girl that sobs on bid day though, take time with your recruitment counselor and collect yourself and do the best you can to settle in and make one connection. As an active member it sucks to see someone sad on bid day because you want to comfort them but it seems like they don't like you which can be very uncomfortable. it's okay to cry about it of course, but do make your best effort to be present on bid day! recruitment counselors are great shoulders to cry on.)
BUT if you only have one chapter on pref and you say that you would accept a bid from them then congrats you're in you have a 100 percent chance of getting a bid from them unless you like get arrested after pref parties lol!! welcome home sister!
