When you become apart of a sorority, how does the sorority determine who your "big" is and stuff?

You write a list of the girls you want to be your big, potential bigs write a list of girls they want to be their little, and you get matched up

Every sorority does it a little bit differently, sometimes you fill out a questionaire and get matched, sometimes you fill out lists and get matched. It all depends on the chapter.
