hi! question!

by:

Hi! I am potentially transferring to GVSU next year and I am currently in a sorority that has a chapter on this campus! I was wondering what generally greek life is like here? Well, mostly I am curious about how sororities do big/little here. I heard from some friends that have some friends in greek life here that your big can be a guy? How does this work? Are big/little pairs not within a sorority but a whole greek life thing? It seems kind of cool, just different than the way it works at my school. Also how big is greek life here? I am from a school where it is huge and almost everyone is in it, so I am wondering if GV is like that?

Thanks for any help guys!!

Not a ton of people are in greek life here on campus, but we have been known as the "disney land of greek life" according to our advisor has heard from other schools! We never have problems with hazing or organizations being on probation or anything like that, and we are all very academically driven and really care about our philanthropies!
Each sorority does big/little a bit differently within the chapter, sometimes transfers will get a new big in some sororities but some don't, it all depends!
The fraternity big/littles are not technically associated with the sorority at all, it is more of a social thing that we do here. There is not formal selection process or anything like that, if you just meet someone that you click with you can just be like "hey wanna be my little?" and expand your family! It's a great way to "network" around greek life here, but it is by no means the official big/little and does not take the place of your sorority big/little! Many people in greek life here do not have boy bigs and littles, so it is not a mandatory thing at all, just a fun little side bit!

hope this helps!
