rush overview....

This information is available in the guide to greek life, which is available on the greek.gatech website. But are you asking about sorority rush or fraternity rush? Cause fraternity rush is pretty much just talking to members.

Kickoff: Go, it's fun. You'll meet your pi chis and the girls in your pi chi group. Each sorority including the associate members will be in the Ferst theater. They'll each sing a song, and do a cheer. It's a little intro. I think it's in order of when they were founded at Tech.

You'll first meet with your pi chis get a list of which houses you'll be going to/what order. Then when you get to your party, you'll line up outside the house in alphabetical order, which the pi chis take care of, and you'll walk in the house and be greeted by a sister.

Day 1: you'll visit all 7 houses. I think parties are about 30 minutes long. There's a break for lunch. It's a get to know you day. The chapters will be wearing tshirts and shorts, you'll be wearing the tshirt you get at kickoff. Chapters usually show a slideshow/video today. It's a lot of general questions, excited for school, where are you living, your major, etc. You sohlud talk to multiple sisters, and they'll take care of who you're talking to. Remember to be as positive and bright answering the same question for the 7th time as the 1st time.

After day 1, you'll list the 6 chapters you'd like to go back to, and the one you'd prefer not to. You'll get your invite list the next morning. If you didn't want to go back to chapter D, but chapter B didn't invite YOU back, and chapter D did, you WILL go to chapter D again

Day 2, you'll go back to UP TO 6 chapters. More chapters could cut you, so you could go back to less.

Day 2 cont: this is philanthropy day. Chapters will be dressed a little nicer. They'll present and explain to you their philanthropy and what they do to contribute. They'll also give house tours and a financial presentation. Again, you'll talk to several sisters. It could be the same ones, or different ones. Some of the same questions as Day 2, but it's a good time to talk about involvement, what you were involved in in high school and what you want to get involved in at Tech

You'll rank the 4 chapters you'd like to go back to and the 2 you'd rather not. Again, if one or more of the 4 chapters cuts you, but either or both of the two you tried to drop still want you, and invite you back, you'll go back to them, to try and make sure you have the fullest schedule possible.

DON'T DWELL ON THE HOUSES THAT CUT YOU. It's over. There is virtually no chance you will be a member of that house this year. Focus on the houses you do have left, and remember that they really want you to be there.

Day 3: You'll go back to UP TO 4 houses. This is usually skit day. Chapters are dressed nicer today and you should be as well. A sundress is ideal. Chapters present a themed skit and you talk to sisters. Questions get more serious. Ask if you're comfortable there, if you can see these girls as sisters, what you can bring to the chapter.

After this day, you'll rank the 2 houses you'd like to go to for preference.

Pref continued: If you go to 2 pref parties, please write down both houses. It helps your chances of getting a bid. There is a reason for that and it's really too complicated to explain but just trust me. You could get a bid to either your 1st or 2nd choice. If you get your 2nd choice, remember what you liked about them. Usually girls will find that the system works and a few weeks in, they can't imagine being anywhere else.

Bid Day: you'll pick up your bids at the student center around 5:30. Sometimes they'll make you sit on them, and you'll open them all together. You'll get bid day shirts. Then you'll run out to the waiting sisters at your new home and enjoy all the bid day activities planned. They'll also have pi chi revealing where you'll find out what sororities your and all pi chis are in.
