on self-ranking & how to use greek rank

As we’ve seen in the past few days, self-ranking is still alive and well on this site. Spotting self-ranking posts is pretty easy. Does it have a perfect 5 Stars? Self-Rank. Does it have a silly name/content? Self-Rank. Did a chapter rise from outside the top 10 to number one in a few hours? Self-Rank. Instead of just reading the first page of the reviews (which will undoubtedly be filled with self-rank or tear-down posts), go until you find an average (2.5-3.5) review as these tend to be more honest a reflect a less biased opinion of the chapter.

This site should be a resource for rushees/PNMs to learn about a chapter before coming to Tech. It should not be a place to tear down other houses or over-inflate yourselves. Rushees, PNMs—these ranks are a narrow view of the Greek community here at this campus. It’s like going to a bar-b-que restaurant, ordering a side of Mac-n-Cheese, and basing your opinion of the pulled-pork off of that one item. So, I encourage you all – even you actives – to try and provide honest feedback and make this site and this campus a little more unified.
