sorority comments

Is honestly a flawless process. You get a real feel for the sororities pretty quickly. Everyone gets placed EXACTLY where they should be. Though some doubt the system and get upset at first, I don't know a girl today who isn't absolutely thrilled with their sorority now and with the way that rush turned out for them.

I'm not sure why a guide wasn't mailed to you, but last year's guide is available on the greek affairs website and will have pretty much all the same info about houses and stuff, except for new pictures. Also, don't worry, when you go to the recruitment kick off, and meet your pi chi (recruitment counselors) they'll take care of you and tell you everything you need to know.

I wouldn't say rush is flawless, but it is a very good system, and it does work. You will find the house where you're meant to be and where you fit in. Even if, on bid day, you get your 2nd choice, give it a shot. You could really end up loving that sorority and find it was the right place all along. And if it so happens that you don't enjoy being a part of that sorority, you could always drop later. Taking the time to find out what the girls are like, and going through the new member period can't hurt you, it can only help you. Especially since you can't rush until next year's formal recruitment and Tech doesn't really do COB or spring rush.

Rush is a fun, tiring, crazy, rewarding process. Not everyone ends up where they expected to, so, sometimes girls do get upset, but once they give that one house they didn't really consider a chance, they see it was right all along. Definitely excited for everyone's new pledge classes.
