summer rush

how important are summer rush events at the top houses? does being invited/attending some put you at a big advantage in getting a bid?

Not necessarily. Summer rush invites usually work by brother's knowing incoming freshmen. You could not know a single brother and easily get a bid during fall rush if you fit in well enough with the brothers.
