Um, there are sororities on campus who aren't as strong nationally as AZD and Phi Mu. Alpha Phi is strong up north, but not in the South. Alpha Gam and AXO aren't strong nationally really at all, especially AXO. And ADPi isn't good anywhere except like Georgia and Florida. Just do you research before you make stupid comments please.

ADPi is strong all over the South, and are present at most top academic campuses, AXO is top at Bama of the top of my head, and most of their chapters I know of are at least middle tier. Alpha Phi is pretty strong nationally too, just not in the South. Phi Mu is very strong in the South. AGD and AXiD are pretty similar, and sort of similar to AXO too in not really having a particular regional presence, and just being strong kind of randomly around the country,

I really don't see how having another sorority would change anything, its not like it has any effect on the number of attractive girls that come to tech.
If its a nationally strong sorority like KD, they would likely just pull some of the attractive girls that would have gone to other sororities each year.

Yes. That's exactly it. Although, just because a name is strong nationally, doesn't guarantee success in recruitment. And vice versa. I think the point of the original post was just to see what people's opinions were. Our chapters are a bit large. It is difficult to find places to have chapter with so many girls. If we were at another school, and/or had the room to put another physical house, we most likely would've already opened for expansion.

Got a new chapter this past year and the girls coming through who already knew the general reputation of sororities but who got dropped from the top one or two houses (still perfectly normal, cool girls) picked the new house that a strong name nationally just so they wouldn't have to say "oh I'm in (insert middle or bottom tier sorority here)" just saying.

I can definitely see that. But I feel like you can't compare our campus to Ole Miss or Alabama. It's different there. Much snottier and there is an extreme emphasis at those campuses on reputation. A strong national name (i.e. Kappa, Chi O, etc) could definitely bring competitive recruitment results, but it doesn't necessarily guarantee it. That's all.

rumors where? Just curious. And that would be interesting. Pi Phi was in the running last time we expanded. It was between Pi Phi, Alpha Phi and KD.
But, we'll probably have to wait to expand until land is available for a physical house for a group. A group won't be successful without a house.

I think Tri Delt, AOII or KD would be good. I think Kappa is too big nationally to really work for our campus. And Theta could go either way. There are some places where Theta is amazing and some where Theta is not so amazing.

Why would they immediately edge out AZDs and Phi Mus? They would still have to recruit Tech girls who aren't already in sororities.
