transferring to gt
by: Gt GreekIf I'm a member of a fraternity at my current school, but have heard only bad things about the GT house and am NOT interested in joining it, can I affiliate with a different one? What is the procedure and how does that work ?
#2by: no
If you were initiated, then you cannot join another fraternity. I would highly suggest going to that fraternity during rush week to talk to the brothers and/or the president. All the fraternities at GT are much different from, say, an SEC school fraternity.
Every fraternity at GT has its pros and cons. Some are AMAZING at brotherhood, but lack some social life; some are the exact opposite. The fraternities at GT aren't good or bad; they're just tailored to a certain experience.
Greekrank is RIDDLED by people who want their fraternities to shine in ranks, and so the opinions you see here are skewed. Very skewed. You shouldn't base your opinion of a fraternity on anything else but your own interactions with the brothers. You are doing yourself a disservice by doing anything but that.

it's definitely worth a try. you can't decide against it until you meet the brothers. even if you don't like them as much as the ones from your other college, it is still very beneficial and useful academically, socially, and extracurricularly to be in a fraternity. give it a shot. also, i really want to know which fraternity it is. haha

There's a difference between being a brother at chapter A and affiliating at chapter B which you described and is called an "affiliate", but it's also possible in greek life to become a "social affiliate" at an organization if you're not a brother/if you were initiated into a different organization. It's been done before and it exists, but I'm not exactly sure what the latter entails. If this option isn't available, you can always try and do something under the table.
