No order within tiers, it comes down to personal preference.

Ignoring all the self ranks on this site, this is how it is at GT. The first tier is the only one with girls who might be Greek at other schools with a strong Greek system. Everyone else is fine but they just provide the true Greek experience that other schools have.

Damn. Reign your freshmen in and their moms too. Bragging over what you are not just makes all of you look bad, ladies.

I think Greek life at GT is definitely different than at other schools. Campus life here is different in general than at other schools because our student population is different. But, that's a positive, not a negative. I assume you came to GT because of what it is, what it has to offer and how it's different. I can only speak for the sororities, but I love our focus on sisterhood, philanthropy, leadership opportunities and academics. It's completely irrelevant whether someone would have been Greek at another school. A school's Greek system is a reflection of its student population. Our student population is much different than that of a large SEC school and I doubt that I would've gone through recruitment at a university where the Greek system had primarily a social focus. But this makes our Greek system more than others - not less. And it certainly makes it more progressive....kind of like Georgia Tech, right.

Sororities are social organizations, first and foremost. That is the case at every school, and sisterhood and social functions are the main focus. But I get what you are saying; the other stuff, leadership and academic focus etc is absolutely a function of the school's culture. Speaking as a sorority member here, I love this school so much! I love my sorority and Greek life! But I chose the school first and am happy to have the sorority experience that is unique to Tech. If I had ended up at a different school, I definitely would have considered joining a sorority, but I know it would be a different experience at a different school. With that said, I don't know a single Greek woman here who wishes that sorority life at Tech was more like a big SEC school's. We get to attend a top academic school on a gorgeous campus with beautiful sorority houses; we have a strong Greek life and football games and are still smack in the middle of a large amazing city. That is a very rare combination. Honestly, people who post like the OP are very insecure in their social lives and have some kind of bone to pick.
