All sororities are open to taking second years. Several come through recruitment every year and find their home.

Purely anecdotal but I think Phi Mu doesn’t like taking sophomores. When I rushed as a sophomore, myself and three other sophomores I knew got cut by them the first day. (Not cut from anywhere else.) One sophomore I know did end up in Phi Mu but she said it was just her and one other girl. Whereas most chapters have at least 5-10 sophomores. Not trying to bash Phi Mu but this has just been my experience.
