importance of recs?

A rec is required by nationals for my sorority to offer a bid, and at other houses as well but I don't know for sure about every single house's policy. For the PNM's who are highly desired, the sorority will secure a rec on their behalf, but this is really a lot of trouble to go through and we can't possibly do it for every girl who doesn't have one. Not having one can be cause for us to drop someone because we are required to release a certain amount of girls after each round, and a lot of girls do get their recs into us, so if we are on the fence about carrying a girl to the next round, not having a rec can be how the decision is made to release her. Getting your recs shows that you are interested in us and serious about getting a bid and means that we don't have to do it for you. Recs do not guarantee a bid, but you can see that it is in your best interest to get them. Ask everyone - teachers and coaches, your parents' friends and your friends' parents, people at work and your parents' work, your church/temple community, and don't forget that men know Greek women too! You never know until you ask; they don't have to know you well, just enough to vouch for you. Hope this helps.
