3rd year and wanting to rush

by:

I am curious on how often do fraternities accept 3rd-year students? Even if it is often, how much time I would need to invest when I have a few other commitments to clubs and organizations as well as being a full-time student?

A place isn’t going to not going to give you a bid just because you’re a 3rd year. If they like you and think you’ll be a good fit, the fact that you’re a 3rd year won’t stop them from bidding you.

That being said, it’s your judgment call as to whether the time and effort you’ll put into pledging is worth it given that you’re possibly already more than halfway through your time here, and you could have as few as 3 semesters as an active member once/if you get initiated. If you think it’s worth it, and/or you’re gonna take more than 4 years to graduate, go for it!

Thank you so much for the detailed response! I was a little bit hesitant to ask on Greekrank over the Georgia Tech Reddit page.

Full-time student? You and everybody else. Don’t expect any fraternity to cut you slack just because you are a third year, or because you have commitments to other organizations. You will be expected to participate fully in all required activities and will have to start at the bottom with all the other guys, almost all of whom will be freshmen. You will have zero seniority; initiation date determines seniority, not year in school. Second-years will be telling you what to do. I If you can handle that without attitude and be willing to pay your dues then you should be fine.

Thank you very much! I don't really mind about having seniority or to be given special treatment. The main thing I want to know is if joining this late is acceptable really.
