are sorority meal plans mandatory?

Yes, they are mandatory. But more than that, meal times are primarily when you bond with your new sisters. You will have the chance to sit at different tables and talk with a mix of girls at each meal and get to know a lot of them and find the ones you most want to hang out with. It's not just about needing to eat, you are finding close friends you will love.
