sorority houses by state
by: West CoastI know at my sister's school certain houses are more southern while others are more west coast or east coast. Is there any of this at Tech and if so what houses are what?

It doesn't exactly work like that at Tech, but certain houses definitely do attract a certain type of girls. I would say the most typically Southern houses are ADPi, ZTA, and Phi Mu. Girls who aren't from the South might not know much about these houses or be a good fit, so they might end up elsewhere. I've noticed Alpha Phi has a lot of Northern/out of state girls, maybe because they have stronger chapters in those parts of the country. As for West Coast, there's definitely not a single house that takes the most, but it seems like ZTA has quite a few from CA. Other than that, the rest of the houses are just a mix.

My sister also goes to a school where certain houses only seem to take girls from certain areas, so I understand what you mean. It's not really like that at Tech. As stated above, there are some houses seen as more typically southern. ADPi and Phi Mu were both founded in Macon, GA and have Executive Offices in metro Atlanta. Definitely more rooted in the South. To a lesser degree is ZTA (they were founded in Virginia)). ADPi doesn't seem to be as diverse as Phi Mu and ZTA, but they all take girls from outside the South. But, all 7 (soon to be 8 chapters) are filled with wonderful women from across the country! I don't think there's a bias against girls from outside the south in any of the houses. However, an edge often does go to PMNs with friends already in the chapters. So, you will see a lot of girls from the bigger high schools in Georgia (especially metro Atlanta) in all the houses. It's not because they're from the South - it's because they have contacts.
