ac and co.

The more I hear about this story, the angrier I get--at AC's family. AC's sister is a Theta alumna. Her mother is a Tri Delt. Apparently, their whole family tree is rooted in Greek Life of some sort. THEY KNOW HOW THIS IS DONE! I would expect some rubes from Podunksville who had never heard of Greek Life to pitch a fit since they don't know what is involved in the selection process. but these people are steeped in Greek Life and, therefore, know that good people are cut for various reasons. This is not new to them! The problem is that their high-achieving DS daughter has excelled with every opportunity she has been given from the Down's Syndrome community. She has scholarships because of that community. She has achieved some great things WITH THE HELP of her heavily involved family and the DS community and that's wonderful for her. Still, her family can't do everything for her and the DS community has zero influence in Greek Life. So, if her many successes have caused her to have any kind of negative attitude or has resulted in she and her family assuming that her glowing "resume" would automatically get her a bid, then they are wrong and obviously it didn't. Instead of comforting their daughter and teaching her that she will not always succeed at everything the world throws her way, they are coddling her and blaming us for something they know is never guaranteed! I would especially be pissed off at this if I was a PNM who didn't get a bid. Where are their families' angry Tweets? Where is their lawsuit? Surely they must have been wrongfully cut too? But no. There is no barrage of viral posts about them because they are not special like AC. Maybe they didn't have a "resume" like AC's that should have guaranteed them a spot in someone's new member class. Or maybe they sucked it up, realized that quota is a thing, and went on with their lives. I wish AC and her overprotective family would follow their lead and do the same because their "lawsuit" doesn't stand a chance.

The news will never know about this discussion and the other side of the story... no one will ever know that there ARE CURRENT women with disabilities in those chapters too but that won’t make the story juicy or worthy to share.

Just keep telling youself that you are all good and that you handled things right.

If you had, there wouldn't be all of this negative publicity - so I find you hard to believe.

You obviously don't go to gmu because there are special needs girls ALREADY in our sororities BEFORE AC came along. Bye.

Sorority recruitment is a mutual selection. She ranked her top 3. She wasn’t ask back by her top 3 (out of 8 sororities) she was asked back by 2 other sororities on gmu Campus (some women aren’t asked back by any). She had an opportunity to go to those sororities and check out there philanthropies and to learn more about there chapters. But she chooses to drop out of the recruitment process. Many women don’t get there first choices but they keep moving forward though the process. I wish A.C. finished her Journey to find her home.
