can some please clarify ac issue

by: HELLO

Was AC not actually dropped from your sorority? I have heard she did not receive a bid from the top sororities (AOII, APhi, ChiO) and so she withdrew saying she didn't get a bid, but in reality meaning, she did not get a bid from the sorority she wanted. These people are dragging GMU, Panhel, and Greek Life through the mud and if it is truly false that is awful.

Sad that story has come about. I understand she has a disability but I don’t understand how they are using that as the reason she didn’t get in. Unfortunately in rush, there will be girls who do NOT get a bid. Rejection in life happens and the truly successful pick themselves up and use this as a learning experience to better themselves

Unfortunately we are not supposed to talk about it, but I think Panhellenic needs to release a stronger statement. This story is being picked up by news channels now and is making not only us but all Greek life look terrible. Regardless of what happened there needs to be something better said in response than “we don’t know what happened and there is nothing we can do”

And the story SHOULD be picked up by news channels and investigated. I'm definitely surprised by the number of people in greek life immediately jumping on the defensive size. Nobody wants to acknowledge that discrimination might have happened. Even worse, spreading rumors around that bash AC's character.

Agree that more details are needed to understand what happened but it is also not ok for people to jump to the conclusion that she was released based on her disability. It is not ok to drag Panhellenic and the university through the mud either. We may never know exactly what happened but girls get released from recruitment every year from every university for a multitude of reasons.

So then by that logic, I'm sure you would agree that people also shouldn't be jumping to the conclusion that she was dropped for being rude or having a bad attitude, right?

People shouldn’t be jumping to any conclusions. No one knows the whole truth. Her sister got the media involved and they have run with the narrative that she was released due to her disability because that makes for a better story. Shame all around. If that is not true and she dropped because she didn’t want the houses she had left no one will be writing that story guaranteed.
