What's the story on AlphaSigma Phi fraternity? I had heard they are made up
of the former memebers of sig ep when the charter was revoked. How are they?
Are they an official chapter?

For reasons I won't state on here, Sig Ep got kicked off campus and their members formed Alpha Sig. They're recognized on campus by IFC but not by the university itself. I guess it depends on how you define "official." I won't go into details on all the things they did to get their charter revoked, but considering they got kicked off campus they're obviously not a good fraternity. If you're a potential new member I would stay away from them.

IFC basically told our nationals that if we didn't bring them back then we could be held accountable in a law suit. Fraternities are not allowed to "discriminate" against new ones joining. Everyone voted to overturn mason policy. It was a dumb move but I'm also glad to see that chapter running again. Even if it is under a new fraternity. Lets just hope they don't make the same mistakes

This was a gdi fraternity (sig ep) now under the guise of another gdi fraternity. A majority of its members are located in the Philippines as part of their "international council".. Might as well be a multicultural student org. no one cares if you had billionaires as past members, they distance themselves as much as possible from this geed club anyway and it's clear why.

Why any national organization would take a group of men already kicked off campus and committed to lifelong brotherhood in ANOTHER organization and allow them into their organization...what does that say about how committed those guys are to brotherhood? It seems like they'd rather be in ANY fraternity than be in THEIR fraternity.

Sig Ep nationals came in and screwed the whole brotherhood because of rumors and misunderstanding. Being screwed by both nationals and GMU, the brothers obviously did not want to let their hardwork to be ended so easily. I think its admirable that they chose to continue teaching their values to others. Sure, if you think traditions are more important to you than actual brotherhood bond, you might think it is wrong- but brotherhood should not be able to be squashed so easily. It was circumstantial, and they chose the high road.

not admirable, it shows how these kids really are. all that blah blah about spreading their morals to young people is why they started a new one?!? they just wanted some semblance of relevance that they still don't have. after being a brother in one fraternity and to switch shows the class those kids had.
