why dkapp is dangerous

by:

DKapp parades themselves on being off campus and not beholden to a national organization. Lower dues are a byproduct of this circumstance. The reason that dues for other fraternities are so high is that they have to pay a part of their insurance through nationals. As DKapp has no nationals to report to, they also do not have the benefits, namely, insurance and financial backing. If you get hurt at a DKapp party, or if you join and something major happens, you are personally liable. There will be nobody to back you up. Be warned.

I know of two fraternities where there was actual proof of hazing and then nationals came in and covered it up. Where if something were to happen with them the police would just come in, and handle it themselves and the school and nationals couldn't cover it up. So to a certain extent dkapp could be safer from that perspective.

If you think the insurance from national groups covers anything useful you really need to do your research. Anything that's illegal is not covered by the insurance these groups pay.

Its not any safer or less safe than any other greek organization. Liability and insurance only protects the reputation of the national organization not individual brothers. Being 'off-campus' just means that they don't have to report to GMU or TKE nationals, but also are not eligible to participate in formal events on campus.

Fraternities going down left and right... Dkapp is doing just fine and honestly "WhoHooo!!! It's so fun to do a silly little performance on stage or compete in a Greek week competition with the nicest sweetest down to earth soriority girls!!! I just love serenading them in chapter and giving musical performances!!!" - said no fraternity guy ever. Mason isn't even a real school haha, it's not like mixers are the MOVE here. Fairfax isn't a college town and no matter what fraternity you are... it's just a battle of who can throw decent house parties. Dkapp is partying on while so many people are on suspension, benefits speak for themselves if I was in Greek life I would def go off campus

You seem pretty offended lol, I think she accomplished her objective. I kinda agree with her somewhat, without a Greek row and designated sections of off campus student housing, George mason is not a real school in the abstract sense. Aside from fraternity parties there's really only two bars and small apartment parties. Having to drive everywhere and living amongst northern Virginia famalies is the reasoning behind what she said. I still like going to George Mason, but I don't really see any additional benefits of being an on campus fraternity. The only reason any fraternity participates in any sorority events etc is to get LAID. Unless you're just a super nice charitable guy, you joined a fraternity to Mack on girls and party. So since that's 90% of fraternity guys mindset, there's zero difference between an on campus fraternity throwing parities vs an off campus. Insurance is not a real thing in either instance, the only benefit is best case avoiding a legal issue, but that just means Dkapp won't engage in as risky behavior as on campus fraternities. I mean can you honestly tell me the difference between the two other than "Greek functions"? If you can rush, throw parties, make life long friendships, and still do charitable work e.g community service, then you should be viewed as an equal for the most part. "Lex" is basically just laughing at you all for being so petty and without even opening the cover of the book, placing Dkapp in the bottom 3 of all fraternities at mason/fairfax. I don't really know them that well, but I can say as a freshmen last fall they went hard every time I went with friends who liked them. Can't get mad at someone else for taking a far right stance when you're taking a far left stance. Everyone hates on everyone hear, I guarantee you if a Dkapp and a Chi O talked and hung out they might actually have something in common. Give people a change guys

George Mason isn't a real school until we eliminate gender roles in Greek life. I'm a guy now yet I'm told to join a soriority ughhhhhh

Dkapp isn’t a fraternity. The sororities on campus are literally in the process of signing documentation that they will not associate with non-recognized organizations claiming to be fraternities in any way. If the question here is what the difference is between dkapp and any recognized org, it’s that women orgs on campus have their own standards on who they associate with, and dkapp is not up to that standard. Many sorority headquarters have national rules in place that mandates that they can only associate with university recognized orgs. Just because you can’t see the difference in what the “fraternity” itself does in comparison to recognized orgs doesn’t mean other people don’t have their own rules to follow.

DKapp meets the legal definition of a gang. A group of people (who are not a fraternity) who do illegal things (underage partying is illegal) is a gang.
