DG claimed they were better than alpha phi because alpha phi was doing informal. Aphi didn't end up doing it and they did...

It wasn't DG that claimed that alpha phi was doing informal... Alpha Phi was rumored to go through informal recruitment because they, along with every other sorority on campus, didn't "meet" their quota this year. They were urged by nationals to go through informal but didn't decide to do it because they didn't want to look bad.

It's up to nationals about informal not the chapter, so I don't think all the chapters were under quota

If all sororities were under quota why didn't they all do informal?!?!

Just because a sorority is "under quota" doesn't meant they automatically do informal. It's up to nationals and the chapter itself. A LOT of chapter women don't realize that their chapter is "under quota" just because eBoard doesn't tell them because they have no business knowing that kind of information. Being "under quota" is NOT a bad thing... I repeat NOT a bad thing.

I don't think that's true at all. How would you know what their nationals wanted??

But go back a few posts and you'll see DG slamming other chapters for being under quota saying that it is a bad thing and only "bottom tier" sororities do it. And you can't make assumptions that all the chapters were under quota because if the people in the chapter don't even know they're under quota how is anybody else supposed to know?

What? "And you'll see DG slamming other chapters being under quota saying that it is a bad thing and only "bottom tier" sororities do it". Where do you ever see this? How do you know they're DG? You can't just assume anything said on here is from a specific chapter because everything is anonymous.
And no assumptions were made about chapters being under quota. Every year, it is a known fact in Panhel that lots of chapters are under quota and that's not a bad thing.

But when the post says DG is number one because alpha phi has to do informal and only 1/10 girls in adpi are pretty who else would write that. Come on. Just because the website is anonymous does not take away people's common sense.

Where is that post just because I've never seen it before? And do you REALLY think someone would be that dumb and obvious and represent their sorority like that? It was clearly someone else trying to frame another sorority into look bad because, let's face it, nobody outright says that their chapter is #1. If anything, people try to manipulate the rankings, but saying your chapter is #1 is a little excessive.

Someone brought back the post so here is a copy and paste of the post you said DG didn't make

"alpha phi and dg are definitely tied for top but alpha phi has to do informal recruitment which usually only bottom tier sororities do...

adpi has been falling for years now 1/10 girls are cool and pretty"

So I don't think there was any framing going on here. It's pretty clear who wrote that.

Two "top-tier" chapters, DG & ADPi, did informal...maybe instead of thinking this means these chapters are "bad" or "slipping", it should make people reevaluate the reputation of COB on this campus. So many things can cause a chapter to fall below total (and yes, half will be by definition) and most nationals make chapters do informal if they are more than 1 or 2 girls below. Its unfortunate chapters feel like they need to hide adding these women to their chapter because recruitment in any form if so important to sorority life and we should all celebrate it. Just a thought...

I 100% agree. COB is NOT a bad thing and you summed it up very perfectly. All sororities needed to go through COB at some point and hesitate to do so just because it has a negative connotation for no reason

its just such a shame when chapters talk down about informal recruitment and then turn it into a positive thing only when they find themselves doing informal recruitment. personally, i believe every chapter could benefit from COB, but its just not how it works out in most cases. informal does have a negative connotation only because not too many chapters usually do it. i guess this year was the exception and hopefully everyone can learn from it.
