What sororities should freshman avoid at all cost? I want a strong sisterhood but I also want my sorority to have a good reputation on campus.

Well said! Depends what you define as a "good" reputation. If you want to be hazed, join Aephi. If you dont, join any other sorority. If you want models in your sorority, join DG or Aphi. If you want good sisters, join any of them but Aphi. If you always want to be second or third best, join ADPi.

Not a Greek so maybe I can help.

You want to go DG, then either Alpha Phi or Adpi. If you notice in the comments, DG doesn't have debate about whether it's going up or down, but the other two do.

That being said, all of the "middle tear" sororities can be fun too and dont have bad reputations. The only one with a "bad rep" is SDT but they've done a lot of restructuring. DDD are full of great girls, too. No bad, no good, I have friends in a few different ones and they're great.

I agree that it depends on what you mean by a "good" reputation.

If you mean popular, DG, APhi, ADPi

If you mean clean-cut, GPhi, DDD, SK

as far as strong sisterhoods, I think all of the sisterhoods are just different. Some are certainly stronger than others, but for the most part, you will find that the girls as a unit are pretty tight knit, but out of 150 girls, you'll never get along with absolutely everyone. Strongest sisterhoods: DG, SK, Theta, KD

Agreed that "good" reputation is tricky when it comes to all the chapters in all honesty. Don't avoid any of the chapters…each has stereotypes, and they even evolve over time with each PC! Give them all a shot and you'll figure out quickly which ones have the type of sisterhood you're looking for. Some sororities form bonds with social events, others philanthropy, etc. I've seen the best sense of sisterhood among GPhi, SK, Theta and DG girls personally, though.

i agree with most of these comments. social media can be very misleading during recruitment, so this website is especially misleading for potential new members. try to go into recruitment with an open mind and you'll find the sorority that you are the most comfortable in

A lot of the sororities have good reputations but are just a little different. If you are looking for the happy medium between parting all the time and having a close relationship with your sister outside of partying then i'd say DG, KD, GPhi. Alpha parties a little too much and Theta is stronger on the sisterhood side.

DG, SK, and DDD have great sisterhoods. Just because alpha phi and adpi are considered top tier doesn't mean they have good sisterhoods. If you want a good sisterhood and get cut from DG, then look elsewhere in the "middle" tier. They have really friendly girls too!!

If you want a good sisterhood in the top tier you have to go DG or else you'll get the fake sisterhood they show you in their slide show all mixed up with the reality of Alpha Phi and Adpi. I'd go adpi over alpha phi ANY day because their sisterhood is a bit better. If you want another good sisterhood, look away from the top tier, suck it up, and have an amazing time in Gamma Phi Beta, KD, AEPHI, or SK or DDD. Just have fun with recruitment and be open minded.
