attention panhel

Attention Boston University Panhellenic Council:
Having been left with no other option, I am writing here with the hopes of SOME type of serious action being taken against those sororities who engage in illegal recruitment practices.
For the past several years, I know PERSONALLY of MULTIPLE chapter women (from several chapters) reaching out about Alpha Phi’s dirty rushing practices. This includes but is not limited to: hosting chapter wine nights with PNMs and sisters, DMing PNMs on Instagram, bid-promising on SEVERAL occasions, and approaching PNMs at various frat opens to ask if they were going through recruitment and would like to attend said wine nights. I, personally, was approached by a girl in Alpha Phi at an open, who asked if I was a freshman going through recruitment and if I was interested in Alpha Phi. I have SEEN powerpoint presentations with instas of freshman girls on them.
Additionally, during the new member period last year, with a newly initiated sister requiring AMBULANCE SERVICES and HOSPITALIZATION, the chapter remained on campus. When will the lack of consequences end? At this point, it is setting a terrifying precedent for the rest of those sororities who obey the rules of recruitment and fear repercussions, as they are realizing Panhel will actually do nothing.
It’s unfair, it’s disgusting, and it needs to end.
If this matter is not seriously addressed, I find it is in the best interest of Greek Life on campus to report these infractions to nationals.
I hope this is taken seriously, as I know EVERY chapter has experienced friends or have their own stories of this chapter blatantly ignoring the rules.

Honestly, most of this is just hearsay. I don’t know of the instance your talking about, but there have been many nights where a sorority girl has needed an ambulance and it is absolutely not the consequence of hazing, just freshman girls not knowing their limits. I have personally never heard any stories of any girl being dirty rushed by alpha phi or any other chapter. Maybe they use social media, but which sorority doesn’t? If it was out of hand bad, BU and alpha phi headquarters would have no problem kicking them off campus. If you’re so concerned, this definitely isn’t the platform to share it.

there’s no truth to any of this. if this were true girls with faces and names would be voicing up about this with proof knowing that it would make them look good to other chapters, but everything said on here is always just rumors. you probably really do think they’re true and let it affect your opinion of people you’ve probably never talked to, but ask yourself how any of this could be serious at BU and nothing be done about. cuz it’s all just rumors girls decided to go on here and breathe air into. Grow up

these illegal practices also include: following bid night, reaching out to new members of certain chapters via social media and asking them to drop their new chapter prior to initiation for membership in aphi through COB. ENTIRELY unacceptable and disgraceful. taking action on these and similar issues is long overdue.
