bid day

by:

I'm currently very torn between two fraternities and bid day has the potential to be very awkward. How are bids dispersed logistically and how do you announce to a certain frat that you're declining their bid?

This is how it was like 3 years ago.

The morning bids are passed out its usual for the Rush Chair of each fraternity to call the guys who got bids.

So say you got a bid from both Pi Kapp and Delt.

The rush chair of both Pi Kapp and Delt would call you that morning telling you that you had received a bid and telling you to go to the SUB and pick it up. Then just be polite and tell the rush chair of say Pi Kapp that you are grateful but will be pledging Delt instead.

I wouldn't worry bud...., it's not awkward to tell guys you're not pledgeing.

Just let them know the truth

Each fraternity has a different method of distributing bids, but for the most part they will come to you sometime on bid day and give you a bid in person. After that you will have the option sometime later in the day to either accept or decline a bid at the sub.

You shouldn't have to even tell the fraternity you decline, that you declined them since bid acceptance is all computer based.

They come and drop off your bid in person. You go to the SUB to accept or decline it. From there you go out to fountain mall to meet up with who you accepted a bid from. Whoever you decline a bid from will know that you rejected them.
