Do sororities at Baylor offer informal recruitment during the fall, or continuous open bidding?

I don't think the sororities at Baylor do continuous open bidding.

I think they just take their one big new member class every spring...and that's it.

Since most of those new member classes are like 55 girls they don't need to take members any other time.

The average pledge class is a lot bigger than 50

I know some sororities do have recruitment for upperclassmen during the fall. Also, some have continuous open recruitment after recruitment during the winter. That only usually happens if the sorority doesn't meet quota, though.

I'm in a sorority- our pledge classes are like 80-90 usually. And no, I have not heard of any (not mine at least) that do open bidding except for alpha chi. they took two girls like two months after bid day

In order to prepare to potentially add another sorority at Baylor, each existing sorority has to meet a certain size. This size was determined by averaging the total number of members of the eight sororities. The four chapters that fell below the average can offer COBs in order to meet that total number. These chapters are Theta, zeta, axo, and ADPi. However, these chapters are probably choosing to increase their numbers by taking larger pledge classes in formal recruitment instead of through COBs. But it's an option.

Snap bids are offered by groups that don't meet the pledge class quota. So say a sorority offers 70 bids, but then only 50 girls accept the bids. If the quota was 65, then the chapter would need to offer snap bids to 15 girls. This is basically the same process as COB. But COB is a little different at Baylor because here only 4 sororities can COB to meet the total.

Basically, the option exists to COB, but chapters probably will focus on formal recruitment. Snap bids are a little more likely to happen. These are for the groups where girls might choose to not take the bid. I've only heard of ADPi doing it recently. I know they contacted legacies who didn't go through recruitment or girls they already knew and offered them snap bids.

This is good information. HOWEVER, Theta and Zeta has NOT done this recently! Please at least provide accurate information as to not mislead pnms. PMNS, please call to Baylor's Panhellenic Office for information. Some, or should I say, people on here give wrong information.

Like I said, theta and zeta have the option to COB until they reach chapter total. However, they usually don't have problems getting new members through formal recruitment. Which means they probably won't need to COB.

No chapter on campus does snap bids. However chapters will do COB if their national office recommends it. Difference between snap bids and cob:
Snap Bids is where a chapter will take anyone without the chapter voting on it; COB is where a chapter will vote on whether or not they want that women in the chapter.
