Informal Rush Questions

by:

I’m hearing about “informal” rush in the fall. Are the sub dinners open to everyone, or do you have to be invited? Same with rush dates/coffee dates- do you wait for an invite?
I’ve also read about dirty rushing. What exactly is that? Thanks!!

Sub dinners aren’t a thing anymore. Whoever wrote that brought it up from a 2013 post lol… there are Panhellenic previews and you go into chapter rooms to meet girls. It’s really not bad & helps you find who you clique with most. There are also rush dates, it’s usually one on one but you can go in groups of a limited size. You get to know the girls and they get to know you. It’s really fun tbh. And dirty rushing is when active members break panhellenic rules to try to get freshmen hooked on their sorority. For example, they can say you already have a bid before rush week or break any other rules that are listed. Kappa, Pi Phi, and Chi O got in trouble and got fined last year for dirty rushing. Hopefully that changes this year, but if someone tries dirty rushing you, RUN.

Here's the problem with the term "dirty rushing"-- correct definition of it is bid promising yet some in greek life either don't fully understand it or more likely, they purposefully use the term incorrectly to slander other sororities. The clearest definition of dirty rushing is bid promising. Also, the 3 sororities mentioned above did NOT get fined for dirty rushing last year. That statement is completely false. Any way just wanted to clear that up. Best of luck in the fall. I suggest going to as many Panhellenic events as you can. Also be sure to look at last year's recruitment guidebook that's on Baylor's website.

Those three sororities had to keep their doors closed during a panhellenic preview for dirty rushing. Not sorority slander- they’re correct.

Oh and one more thing… The girl who wrote that defensive comment is a Kappa and she’s made herself very known on this website. We all know Kappa checks your zip code and cars to make sure you’re well off. Don’t believe me? Get on a Kappa’s good side and within a few days, she’ll reveal their dirty rushing secrets like one did with me ;)

you can reach out to members for rush dates!! and def go to previews. i rushed last year, and you can tell by the vibe of the girls and the conversations you have if you will fit in there. i went to every chapter at previews and those alone helped me narrow it down and weed out all but my top 3 by rush week.
