Why doesnt Baylor have sorority houses??
by: otherschoolI'm from a different school and was wondering if theirs a reason Baylor doesn't have actual sorority houses?

There is no official reason...but Baylor in general is not super supportive of greek life.
They like it on campus, controlled, and not very independent or powerful.
They gave the sororities a chapter room building and have given the fraternities nothing.
Very sad because at many southern colleges the greek housing is beautiful.
#3by: why?
Maintain Control (Dorms used to telephone parents if missed being in dorm by certain time)
Funding (contribute to Baylor, not to sorority)
Parity (keep the groups/clubs equal)
Dorm competition (houses would compete with dorms)
Tradition (clubs have always had rooms in dorms)

Probably the biggest reason is that Baylor thinks they have a good thing going right now without giving the sororities houses.
Baylor sorority chapters are as big as most SEC, Big 10, or Big 12 state schools. And bigger than your average PAC-12 or ACC school.
300+ girls per chapter.
We have a very big and successful sorority system.
All the while we don't let the sororities build mansions.
So Baylor probably feels like if it can keep strong sororities but without giving them the independence of having big houses...why change?
As far the fraternities...Baylor does not even like them and would probably be happy to be rid of them entirely so they are never getting housing or a greek chapter building.
